Terms and Conditions

General

These terms and conditions form a legally binding contract between the property owner, Angela Eadington, and the holidaymaker. The property owner is also referred to as “us” and “we”.

The holidaymaker is the person who signs the booking form, or in the case of online booking, the person who makes the online payment. This person is responsible for ensuring that all members of the holiday party accept and adhere to these terms and conditions. The holidaymaker is also referred to as “you”.

The property referred to being Old Bald Peg Cottage, 2 New Row, Wass, York, YO61 4BG, United Kingdom.

Bookings

A booking deposit of 20% of the rental charge is payable within 48 hours of the provisional booking being taken. The booking remains provisional until the deposit has been received in full and funds cleared through the banking system (where appropriate). The booking then becomes confirmed. Until the booking is confirmed it can be cancelled without notice.

The balance of the rental charge plus a good housekeeping bond of £150  is payable not less than 30 days prior to the start of the holiday. Failure to pay the deposit or balance in full by the due dates will constitute a cancellation of the holiday by the holidaymaker. Please note the dates by which payment must be made as reminders are not routinely issued.

Bookings made less than 30 days from the arrival date must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Cancellation

Cancellation by the holidaymaker is free up to 60 days before arrival, and the deposit will be refunded in full within 3 working days.
For cancellation by the holidaymaker between 60 days and 30 days before arrival the deposit will be refunded in full if the property is re-let for the booked dates.
For cancellation by the holidaymaker within 30 days before arrival, the full holiday rental is payable and only the good housekeeping bond will be refunded. Every effort will be made to re-let the property, and if successful, a discretionary payment may be made.
Cancellation must be sent in writing via email, or by telephone and followed up in writing via email.
We strongly recommend that you take out suitable holiday cancellation insurance cover.

In the unlikely event, for reasons beyond the control of the property owner, the property becomes unsuitable for letting and unavailable for the booked dates, all monies paid will be refunded in full without further claim. No compensation or consequential losses shall be paid.

Pets

No pets other than dogs are allowed in the property.

Up to 2 dogs are allowed in the property subject to the property owner’s prior agreement. The number and type of dog must not exceed what was agreed by the property owner at the time of booking, otherwise a breach of contract will be deemed to have taken place.

Pets must be fully house trained, have up to date vaccination and flea treatment and kept under control at all times. Dogs must not be left unattended in the property under any circumstances and are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture.
The holidaymaker shall be liable for any damage caused by his/her pet or any pet belonging to any member of the holidaymaker’s party. A charge will be made for any additional cleaning required. Please clean up after your pet, including hairs. The holidaymaker must not allow their dogs to wander off the lead unattended in the back lane, as it disturbs the neighbours dogs, and the lane is not to be used as a toilet area for your dogs.

The property owner cannot be held responsible for any accident or injury to a pet during their stay.

Arrival and departure

Arrival is between 4 - 8 pm on the first day of your holiday booking.

The property must be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure (unless previously agreed with the property owner). Late departure will result in an additional charge being made.

Directions and information for the key safe will be sent once full payment has been received and usually 7 days prior to the start of your holiday.

If you have to leave early for any reason, no refund will be given.

The good housekeeping deposit will be returned within 3 days of departure, subject to the property being left in the condition it was found at the start of the holiday.

Number of guests

The maximum number of guests entitled to stay at Old Bald Peg cottage is 4 and only those guests named on the booking form are entitled to stay. If it is found that more people than agreed are using the property, this will be deemed a breach of contract and the holidaymaker and his/her party will be asked to leave immediately and no refund will be given. Sub letting is prohibited.

No parties or gatherings are allowed.

Liability

The property owner takes no responsibility for the personal possessions of the holidaymaker or anyone in their party. Vehicles and possessions are left entirely at the risk of the holidaymaker.

Cleaning

We hope that all guests will treat the cottage with respect and at the end of your holiday will leave it in a clean and tidy condition. It is not necessary to strip the beds. All used pans, utensils, glassware, crockery and cutlery should be washed and put away. All rubbish bags should tied and placed in the end outhouse. Please recycle where possible. The property owner reserves the right to make an additional charge for cleaning if significant time has to be spent clearing up before the enhanced COVID-19 cleaning measures can be started and the next guests are delayed from entering.

Damage and breakages

The holidaymaker should make every effort to keep the property, fixtures and fittings, and all contents in the same state of repair and condition as at the start of the holiday. Any accidental damage or breakages should be reported to the property owner prior to departure, so items can be replaced as soon as possible.
Minor breakages and wear and tear ( in the opinion of the property owner) will not be charged for, but the property owner reserves the right to make a charge for more significant damage or breakages.

Complaints

We hope that you will enjoy your holiday at Old Bald Peg and take home happy memories, but we recognise that sometimes things do go wrong. In these circumstances it is the responsibility of the holidaymaker to make any problem known to the property owner immediately it becomes apparent, thereby giving us the opportunity to correct the situation. Unless this is done, no subsequent claim will be considered.
We will make every effort to rectify any identified problem as soon as is reasonably possible.

Miscellaneous

The property owner reserves the right to enter the property in the event of an emergency or remedial repair work being required.

The property owner is entitled to ask the holidaymaker to leave the property without refund if, in the property owner’s opinion, the behaviour of the holidaymaker and anyone in his/her party is unacceptable or unreasonable.

The property is in a quiet residential area and guests are requested to keep noise to a minimum after 9 pm, especially if arriving back late.

Please park either in the garage or on the street in front of the cottage. The back lane must be kept clear for access at all times.

Old Bald Peg is strictly non smoking. If there are signs that smoking has occurred in the property, the good housekeeping bond will be retained in full.

By making a booking, the holidaymaker agrees to abide by these terms and conditions.
