Perfectly nestled in the south west corner of the North York Moors National Park in the quiet village of Wass close to the ruins of Byland Abbey, the cottage is surrounded by a magical blend of dale, forest and moorland, in an area steeped in history.

Who was Old Bald Peg you may be wondering ?
Nearby Hambleton is known as the home of the Thoroughbred, being the site of one of the earliest racecourses in the early 17th century, on an area of flat ancient turf near the top of Sutton Bank, to this day still home to two racing yards, with gallops on the site of the original racecourse.
Old Bald Peg was a foundation mare of the new Thoroughbred breed, foaled in c1635 on the Duke of Buckingham’s estate at Helmsley. Her bloodlines can be traced down to many of todays modern racehorses and responsible for many champions all over the world.
